Innovation in infrastructure

Fibrecity Holdings

The UK's first mass deployment of fibre to the home

By making fibre optic networks affordable, we've made super fast broadband to the home a reality.

Using patented technology, a Fibrecity network is deployed through the wastewater infrastructure and brought to homes or businesses through micro trenching systems. This significantly reduces costs and disruption, minimising environmental impact and meaning you can benefit from 100Mbps bandwidth delivering:

Next generation Internet services including film on demand, enhanced social networking and online gaming
Seamless home working, with the ability to send and receive information instantly and video conferencing
Future possibilities to support telemedicine and remote care via video conferencing
A Fibrecity connection operates on a unique open access technology platform, so you can link up with multiple providers simultaneously. This means you can get the content you want, when you want it, from whomever you choose.

Bournemouth recently became the UK's first Fibrecity. The next UK Fibrecity will be Dundee, with work scheduled to start in summer 2010.

But it doesn't stop there. Over the next three years Fibrecity Holdings plan to roll out 50,000 homes a month in the UK. And the first Fibrecity networks to roll out internationally will be confirmed in 2010, focusing on Asia-Pacific, the Republic of Ireland and the USA. Exciting times.
